You’ll Never Walk Alone… Unless You Really Want To… I’ve felt ‘normality’ has been within my grasp this week. Making a meal, hot drinks… and taking my dog for a walk BY MYSELF! Taking Pooch out for a walk is ‘our’ thing… our time, which I was really starting to miss. If you have pets,

What Do You Do When Your Help Needs Help? So what’s the worst possible thing that could happen to myself and Himself during this current setup? While I’m ‘out of action’ and where Himself takes up all duties that involve bending too far, heavy lifting, driving, cooking, carrying… need I go on? The Hippies among

I have been genuinely surprised at how well I have been doing. From a Hip Dysplasia pain perspective, it’s gone, actually gone. All I have is post-op pain, but it’s a different sort of pain and one I know is going soon. The deep, sharp, grating, continuous burning ache has gone. Happy is certainly an

What a week! I am now a Double-Hippie! Here I am in all my ‘shiny and new’ glory (a bit wonky, but I’ll straighten out with some hard work!). As much as there has been the usual routine of organisation-surgery-recovery, there have already been some memorable (…and some awkward!) moments… Leaving my dignity at the hospital door

Boy, having a life dogged by pesky Hip Dysplasia really does have its shortcomings… one being devoting a lot of your time as an in-patient. Now nobody is fond of spending what feels like confinement under guard. (Okay, possibly a smidgen of an over-reaction there, I know – but seriously, they lock you in! I

Day 41

Well, I had a ‘First’ today, alright!!!! A very dumb one! 2 days before the end of my restrictions… and I did this… without even thinking!!! Silly silly girl!!   I have to say, I know I’m not supposed to do it, but I was actually quite pleased (after I uncrossed and all was well.

Day 40

Up at 6:30am. What the…..?! I was this wide awake.  Today marked the end of our Christmas/Holidays… Himself went back to work today. Gutted!! I had gotten used to having him round, entertaining me, lots of company, for almost 3 weeks 🙂 Now, back to reality… just me and Poochy. No lazy mornings, back to rubbish

Day 39

A very bad day, pain wise, today.  But not my hip… just the muscles and my legs. Restless leg Syndrome is the worst!! Himself rightly pointed out.. “..could it be that you’re forgetting to take your magnesium?”.  He was right. I couldn’t remember the last time I had taken one, it must have been days.

Day 38

Firstly, apologies for the moan! I’m getting very impatient.  I have to remind myself of my progress, because I have days like today where I feel like I’ve made no progress in weeks! Sounds ridiculous, yes. But it’s part of the recovery… low days. I am quickly approaching the 6 week mark – the BEGINNING
